You’re Never Alone
More than 30 years ago, the National Association of
State Farm Agents, Inc. was founded largely because of
the need for communication amongst independent
contractor State Farm agents.
We understand the challenges you face. From underwriting
restrictions to financial products, from finding good
staff to just finding the time, our members are facing
the same challenges. In some cases, we’ve found answers
that can help you. In others, we are fighting to make
its members’ agency opportunity everything it was
promised to be.
In any case, you don’t have to face these challenges by
yourself. You have a network of thousands of fellow
agents at your fingertips.
On the right, you’ll find several benefits of joining
NASFA. But perhaps the most significant is that with
NASFA, you’re never alone.
Programs &
Benefits
NASFA Communication
The Mirror: A quarterly magazine for NASFA
members, The Mirror offers a detailed analysis of issues
impacting its members. You’ll find business advice for
the independent contractor agent, as well as a fresh
perspective on issues ranging from Agent’s Agreements to
State Farm policies.
NASFAX Communication: Whenever NASFA has
late-breaking news, it’s on members desks immediately in
the form of a NASFAX. NASFA issues these semi-monthly
faxes to give members an edge in the decision-making
process. They represent NASFA’s commitment to get you
the information you need, when you need it.
www.nasfa.com: NASFA’s web site provides access
to NASFA information 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Keep current on issues affecting independent contractor
agents. Get detailed legal and legislative information.
Participate in the online forums. These forums are
available to members only and allow agents to discuss
issues of importance with fellow agents.
NASFA Meetings
NASFA Convention: The premier networking event of
the year for NASFA members, NASFA’s convention offers
educational sessions and a chance to meet with NASFA
leadership and fellow agents face-to-face. This is the
best place to experience the full benefit of NASFA
membership.
Legal/Legislative
NASFA Legal Activities: NASFA supports or engages
in litigation to resolve issues of concern to its
membership. When communication fails, NASFA is prepared
to stand up for its members’ interests in court.
Legal Advice: NASFA members have access to the
association’s legal counsel. When faced with a problem,
a simple phone call can save countless hours of legal
research by attorneys who are less familiar with State
Farm, its policies and the State Farm agency
opportunity.
NASFA Lobbying Efforts: NASFA’s lobbying efforts,
both on a grassroots and direct basis, have had a
considerable impact for all independent contractor State
Farm agents. NASFA helped to abolish SECA tax on
termination pay putting an additional $1,530 in the
pockets of all retired agents (now and in the future)
for every $10,000 they receive in termination pay. NASFA
is currently seeking legislation to make termination
payments considered capital gains. Success would mean
another huge savings for agents.
The NASFA Network
Member-to-Member Referral Program: NASFA members
with customers moving from their area can refer those
customers to NASFA agents in a new area.
