NASFA needs to provide more
services to aid members and attract new members. NASFA
is a professional association to help State Farm
independent contractor agents grow professionally,
grow their agencies and promote the products of State
Farm Insurance Companies.
We realize State Farm is
pushing more and more responsibility onto agents in the
daily operation of their offices. With all the financial
service products agents are expected to market and sell,
agents |
and their staffs must be
highly trained for the daily operation of the office.
Agents' staff must now be licensed to even talk to an
underwriter.
Today, every contact with a
client can be a sales opportunity and clerical staff is
becoming a thing of the past. Agents need to understand
they are in charge and own one of the larger small
businesses in their communities. If agents are to
survive and grow, they need much more help and services
than what is currently provided by State Farm. NASFA
created two board positions -- vice president of
technology and vice president of member services -- to
provide that help.
I am vice president of
member services. I have been an independent contractor
State Farm agent since 1972. In my 35 years as an agent,
I have witnessed many changes -- some good and some bad
for agents. I have developed a good-sized, profitable
agency in Southeast Ohio with four licensed staff. I
have qualified for life travel many times, national
conventions, life and health quality awards and
maintained a profitable agency in both auto and fire.
I have always been very
active in my agency, working with company programs to
grow. You either move ahead or fall behind. You cannot
stay the same and do nothing.
I developed this part of the
NASFA web site to be user friendly and provide enormous
amounts of information and services for agents and
staff. There will be services you can access with a
click. More detailed information can be found using the
menu on the right.
This is a work in progress.
I will be constantly adding to and modifying the
site.
I would like your help. Tell
me what you want to see. Send me web addresses,
information, e-mails and suggestions -- anything you
think would be useful to fellow agents.

a resource for NASFA members. Non-members do not have

agents should belong to a quality professional
organization. NASFA fits that description very well.
