NASFA V.P. Publications |
In today’s world,
the most valuable of all commodities is
information. As a NASFA member, you will receive
timely information about the performance of
company programs and inside information about
new programs that have yet to be introduced in
your own AFO or zone.
NASFA members also have the ability to provide
information. Most AFOs have several NASFA
members within their group. One of the benefits
of this is that it is almost impossible for
manage-ment to pilot any kind of a new program
anywhere without one or more NASFA members
learning about it. |
In the course of any given
month, our headquarters or board members receive dozens
of calls from agents asking what we know about existing
State Farm programs. But members also call to provide us
with information on new programs about which they have
recently learned.
Once we determine this information to be beneficial to
our members, we either publish it in The Mirror or send
out a special NASFAX.
The Mirror
The Mirror is now published four times a year.
Occasionally, when we think it is warranted, we will
publish a special edition of The Mirror such as this
one. Although we generally plan to send The Mirror to
non-members at least once a year, members receive at
least four issues every year.
The Mirror has received
several awards for publishing excellence over the years.
It has been recognized by the American Society of
Association Executives, the Maryland Society of
Association Executives and Communication Concepts as a
top-quality publication.
Fax Communication
We recently sent out our 100th NASFAX to our members.
That is an average of about one NASFAX every two to
three weeks since we started numbering them four years
ago.
We also occasionally send
NASFLASHes to non-members. We send a NASFLASH either
when we feel that the content is of such importance that
all agents should be informed about it or when we feel
that it is beneficial to our members to also inform
non-members about a specific issue. The number of
NASFLASHes is only about one half of the number of
NASFAXes.
Between NASFAXes, NASFLASHes
and The Mirror, almost 90 percent of all State Farm
agents receive at least some information from NASFA.
When information is also placed on the NASFA web site,
then every State Farm agent or associate has the
opportunity to review it.
www.nasfa.com
NASFA’s web site includes a wealth of information on
issues important to State Farm agents, opportunities to
interact with fellow agents and, of course, all things
NASFA at your fingertips around the clock. Here are some
of the highlights.
Agents Round Table: The most popular
feature of NASFA’s web site is the Agent’s Round Table.
In this forum, NASFA members can discuss issues
impacting their lives and their agencies. The Round
Table has been improved on the new site and is more
feature rich than ever. Take advantage of this
opportunity to interact with fellow agents from across
the country.
NASFA v. State Farm: Do you want details?
Do you want the truth? You’ll find it all at
www.nasfa.com. Click on the NASFA v. State Farm button
for the actual court documents filed by both NASFA and
State Farm as part of the suit. You know what the
company says in its marketing materials. Find out what
management says under oath.
Legal Issues: The site also features
details of several other cases impacting State Farm
agents. You won’t find more detailed, accurate
information anywhere on the web.
Publication Archive: NASFA archives all of
its communication on its web site. This includes back
issues of The Mirror, NASFAXes and NASFLASHes. Member
publications are password protected for members only.
Legislative Issues: NASFA is hot on the
trail of HR 2509. This piece of capital gains
legislation has been filed in the U.S. House of
Representatives and NASFA will work tirelessly for its
passage. Follow the events and participate by clicking
on the legislative issues button.
NASFA Convention: The latest news about
NASFA’s convention is on the site. Find out everything
you need to know about the convention and its host city.
You can even use NASFA’s secure registration form to
register online.
As you can imagine, it is
very costly to collect, analyze and distribute this
information just to our own members. It becomes even
more costly when we decide to send information to
non-members as well. All of the expenses incurred in
this effort are paid for by the annual membership dues
of our members.
As we look to the future, it
appears that the number of new company initiatives will
continue to increase. It would be almost impossible for
any one agent to keep track of these new programs on
their own. It would be even more difficult for agents
try to understand the impact of each new program on both
the operation of their agencies and the income that they
receive from those agencies. This is one area in which
we need each other.
Keeping up with this rapid
rate of change is a huge challenge for NASFA. If we are
going to maintain our present level of service and
increase the amount of information that is analyzed and
distributed, we will need the increased revenue that can
only come from the membership dues of new members.
Please join NASFA today so
that we can keep the pipeline flowing with information
that will help you to not only better plan for the
future of your agency, but also plan for the financial
security of you and your family. |
